Justin Hiemstra is a Research Software Engineer currently working at the Morgridge Institute for Research since January 2023 and at the Center for High Throughput Computing (CHTC) since September 2021. Previously, Justin served as a Machine Learning Application Specialist and a Graduate Student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from September 2020 to August 2022, focusing on Machine Learning and Signals Processing. Prior experience includes working as a General Contractor at B Eggert Contracting and holding roles as an Audio Visual Technician at Haverford College and Lead Manager at Lunt Cafe during the tenure at Haverford College from September 2015 to May 2019. Justin holds a Master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BS in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Arts in Russian Studies from Haverford College, along with completing an Advanced Russian Language and Area Studies Program at the International University in Moscow.

The Morgridge Institute for Research is a nonprofit biomedical institute exploring uncharted scientific territory to discover tomorrow’s cures. Morgridge works to improve human health through innovative, interdisciplinary biomedical discoveries, spark scientific curiosity and serve society through translational outcomes, in partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Research areas include regenerative biology and bioinformatics, virology, medical engineering, metabolism, core computational technology and bioethics.
