Sheila A. Carter is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in leadership and community service. Currently serving as President of the NAACP since November 1986, Sheila also owns a franchise of Home Helpers Home Care. Previous roles include President of Carter Connections, Inc. and Case Manager for the Delaware County Intermediate Unit, where involvement in the Project ELECT—Teen Parenting Program occurred. Notably, Sheila was the first female police officer in Darby Township, serving from April 1986 to December 1993. Educational achievements include a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, as well as an Administration of Criminal Justice degree from Delaware County Community College.
