Michael Ryan, CISM, currently serves as the Deputy Chief Information Security Officer for Compliance and Operations at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency since July 2021. Prior to this role, Ryan held the position of Deputy Chief Information Security Officer for the US Federal Government from June 2019 to July 2021 and was a National Security Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School from August 2018 to June 2019. Ryan's extensive experience at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency spans from January 2004 to August 2018, where roles included Deputy Director of the IT Operations Control Office, Director of the Cyber Security Operations Center, and Chief of the Cyber & Enterprise Management Division, among others. Ryan's career began in the United States Air Force as a Communications Officer from September 1994 to January 2003. Ryan holds a Master's degree in Engineering/Industrial Management from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology.
