NATIONAL PHYSICAL LABORATORY LIMITED
Jonathan Silver is a experienced research scientist currently serving as a Senior Research Scientist at the National Physical Laboratory since June 2020, where Jonathan leads a team focused on developing a compact microresonator-based frequency comb for optical clocks and ultrastable microwave generation. Prior to this role, Jonathan held a position as a Royal Academy of Engineering UK IC Postdoctoral Research Fellow at City, University of London, conducting research on novel sensing applications of optical microresonators while working at the National Physical Laboratory from June 2018 to May 2020. Jonathan's earlier experience at the National Physical Laboratory as a Higher Research Scientist from July 2015 to May 2018 involved work on optical microresonator-based frequency combs. Jonathan completed a PhD at the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge, from October 2011 to June 2015, focusing on interactions between a single trapped ytterbium ion and a rubidium Bose-Einstein condensate, as well as with a fibre Fabry-Perot cavity. Jonathan earned an MSci in Physics from the University of Cambridge from 2007 to 2011, following education at JFS from 2000 to 2007.
