NELSON GALLERY FOUNDATION
Joshua Ferdinand is a seasoned professional in digital production and photography with extensive experience in both institutional and freelance settings. As the Manager of Digital Production & Preservation and Manager of Media Services at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art since September 2016, Joshua is responsible for creating high-quality video and still images of the museum's collection and managing studio organization and color accuracy. Before this role, Joshua operated as a freelance photographer from March 2005 to July 2024, specializing in fine art documentation, product, editorial, portrait, and event photography. Previous positions also include Image Retoucher at Hallmark Contractor/Guidant and Image Services Photographer at The Nelson-Atkins Museum, where Joshua produced over 6,000 high-resolution digital images for a NEA grant project. Joshua holds a BFA in Photographic and Film/Video Technology from the Kansas City Art Institute and has a background in commercial photography from Brooks Institute.
