Sean McCarthy

Sean McCarthy is an experienced senior executive in the mining and resource sector, currently serving as Senior Director of Value Assurance at Newmont Corporation since April 2019. In this role, Sean leads cross-functional teams to evaluate internal investment opportunities, providing independent recommendations to the Executive Leadership Team based on comprehensive analyses of viability, risks, and opportunities. Prior to this, Sean held various leadership positions at Goldcorp, including Vice President of Business Planning, where a data-driven continuous improvement culture was established. Sean's early career at Newmont included roles such as Director of Planning, managing investment valuations and capital project recommendations, and Category Manager, overseeing strategic sourcing efforts. Sean's educational background consists of an MBA in Finance from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from William & Mary.
