Tom Sheppard is an experienced communications professional with a substantial background in the healthcare sector. Currently serving as the Head of Communications for the NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board since April 2021, Tom leads public affairs and internal communications initiatives. Prior roles include Head of Communications and Engagement and Communications Manager at NHS Southampton City Clinical Commissioning Group, as well as Communications Officer roles at NHS Southampton and NHS West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Groups. Additionally, Tom gained experience as a Communications Officer for John Denham MP in the House of Commons from February 2010 to December 2013. Academically, Tom holds a Master’s degree in History and a Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Modern History and Politics from the University of Southampton.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board (ICB) is the statutory organisation responsible for setting the strategic plan for the NHS to deliver its part of the health and care strategy. It allocates NHS resources and works through our four places (Hampshire, Southampton, Isle of Wight and Portsmouth) and our transformation programmes to make sure the right health services are being delivered to people across the area. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight ICB is made up of the former Portsmouth Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Hampshire, Southampton and Isle of Wight CCG. We work closely with our partners within the wider Integrated Care System to support our communities to stay as healthy as possible.
