Garrett Bird

Co-director, EDI Fellows; Math And Physics, Upper School at Norfolk Academy

Garrett Bird is an experienced educator and engineer with a strong background in engineering and environmental science. Currently serving as an Upper School Instructor at Norfolk Academy since August 2019, Garrett teaches subjects including Engineering, Physics, and participates in the Chesapeake Bay Fellows program, along with leading projects in Football, Set Design, and Climate & Resilience. Previous professional roles include Project Engineer at Power Engineering Construction Co. and Renewables Field Engineer for Wind at Amec Foster Wheeler. Additionally, Garrett has contributed to research as an Undergraduate Research Intern in Iowa State University's Wind Energy Science, Engineering, and Policy PhD Program, and gained experience as an Estimating Intern at Brasfield & Gorrie, LLC. Garrett holds a Master of Natural Resources with a concentration in Climate Change from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Science in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
