Musharrat Sharmee Hossain is a seasoned academic and advocate for feminist issues, currently serving as a Senior Lecturer and Assistant Proctor at North South University since February 2014. Hossain's extensive teaching experience spans various institutions, including roles at the University of Minnesota, Oklahoma State University, Rutgers University–New Brunswick, and Independent University, Bangladesh, covering subjects such as English composition and literature. In addition to academic responsibilities, Hossain co-founded and actively contributes to Mango Meter, a feminist film rating app, and participated in the Regional Political Feminism Project with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung. Hossain holds a Master’s degree in Linguistics and TESL from Oklahoma State University, alongside two Master’s degrees in English Literature from the University of Dhaka.
