Rafael Urbina Casanova

Rafael Urbina Casanova is a PhD student at Northwestern University and the Chicago Botanic Garden, having held these positions since September 2019. Prior to this, Rafael worked as a Project Engineer and Conservation Specialist at Biota Gestión y Consultorías Ambientales from 2016 to 2019 and served as a Research Assistant and Project Assistant at Universidad de Chile from 2010 to 2016, contributing to various biodiversity projects. Rafael also gained experience as a Professional Intern at the Wildlife Conservation Society in 2009. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Biology and Conservation from Northwestern University (2019-2024), an internship focusing on Chilean vascular flora at the University of California, Berkeley (2015), a Natural Resources Engineer degree from Universidad de Chile (2010-2014), and a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources from the same university (2005-2010).
