Andrew Chen

Andrew Chen currently serves as Chief Advisor: Technology Assurance at NZ Police, overseeing the legal, security, privacy, human rights, and ethical aspects of policing technology. Simultaneously, Andrew has held multiple roles at The University of Auckland since 2011, including Adjunct Senior Research Fellow and Research Fellow at Koi Tū - The Centre for Informed Futures, with a focus on research and policy analysis at the intersection of digital transformation and society. As a PhD candidate in Computer Systems Engineering, Andrew has engaged in various teaching and research roles, contributing to both academic and applied technological projects. Additionally, Andrew holds several board leadership positions in organizations such as Advemto Ltd., Captivate Technology, Opo Bio, and Ampersand Technologies, while serving as an investment committee member for multiple initiatives supporting commercialization and entrepreneurship. Andrew's educational background includes a PhD in Computer Systems Engineering and a Postgraduate Certificate in Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship from The University of Auckland.
