Thomas Schmitt has an extensive work experience in the engineering field. Thomas currently holds the position of Vice President at Octopus Digital since 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Engineering at EmpiricAI from 2020 to 2022. Thomas was also the Director of Engineering at Engro Digital from 2019 to 2020. Before transitioning into these leadership roles, Thomas had a long and successful career at GE Power, starting as a Senior Technical Lead in 1994 and eventually becoming a Practice Lead. During their time at GE Power, they established and operationalized the Field Performance organization, contributing to the significant growth of the services business. Thomas also worked as a Senior Technical Lead at GE Aviation from 1990 to 1994. Their professional journey began at Pratt & Whitney in 1984, where they worked as a Design Engineer for the F100 family of fighter jet engines. Over the years, Thomas gained expertise in controls algorithms, testing, and thermodynamics of gas turbine engines.
Thomas Schmitt attended Michigan State University from 1979 to 1984, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
