Becca Johnson is a dedicated legal professional currently serving as a Certified Legal Intern at the Colorado State Public Defender's Office since May 2022, focusing on criminal defense under Colorado's Student Practice Act. In addition to this role, Becca has gained valuable experience as a Student Intern with the Korey Wise Innocence Project since June 2021 and previously interned at Senator Nasheed's Office in the Missouri State Capitol and the American Civil Liberties Union of the Nation's Capital. Becca started their career as an Office Assistant at Brown Willbrand, P.C. Becca holds a Doctor of Law (JD) degree from the University of Colorado Law School, specializing in Criminal Justice and Corrections, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

The single overriding objective for the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender is to provide zealous and effective representation for indigent individuals who are charged with the commission of a crime in Colorado. The right to counsel is established by both the United States and Colorado Constitutions.
