Melanie Sorensen is a seasoned professional in conservation education and program development, currently serving as the Director of Education and Conservation at Oregon Zoo since April 2022. Previously, Melanie held the position of Sr. Director of Conservation Education at Houston Zoo, overseeing a large team and managing extensive educational programs. Melanie has also contributed to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and the Minnesota Zoo, where roles included directing education and implementing innovative programming. An academic background includes a Teaching Professor role at the University of Minnesota and an MAEd in Environmental Education and Natural Sciences from Hamline University.
