Caroline Hoffmann is an accomplished professional in the field of oncology, currently serving as the Head of Oncology at Owkin since September 2022. Since November 2013, Caroline has been a researcher at Inserm and previously held the position of Senior Head and Neck Oncological Surgeon at Institut Curie from September 2015 to September 2022. Caroline also gained experience as a researcher in Immuno-oncology and innovative therapies at City of Hope from December 2019 to January 2021 and completed a clinical fellowship in surgery at Hôpital Européen Georges Pompidou from November 2012 to September 2015. Caroline's educational background includes a PhD in Immunology from Université Paris-Saclay, a workshop on Methods in Clinical Cancer Research from EORTC-ESMO-AACR, an MD Specialist in Surgery (ENT and Head & Neck Surgery) from Université Paris Cité, and a Doctor of Medicine degree from Université Paris Cité.

Owkin has raised over $70M from leading VC funds and is now working with the most prominent cancer centers and pharmaceutical companies in Europe and the US. Additionally, Owkin leads several federated learning consortia, including; MELLODDY, to facilitate 'co-opetive' drug discovery between pharma companies, and Healthchain, to allow collaborative research across multiple hospitals. Owkin was co-founded in 2016 by Thomas Clozel, MD, a clinical research doctor and former assistant professor in clinical hematology, and by Gilles Wainrib, Ph.D., an academic pioneer in the field of Artificial Intelligence in biology.
