Carla Williams

Carla Williams is an experienced legal professional currently serving as Interim Co-General Counsel, Acting General Counsel, and Legal Counsel at Oxfam Australia since November 2021. Previous positions include Senior Associate and Associate in dispute resolution at Johnson Winter & Slattery from April 2014 to April 2019, and Solicitor at Collaery Lawyers' London Branch, where representation was provided for Timor-Leste in arbitration matters. Carla also held a Solicitor position at the Treasury Solicitors Department in the UK, representing the Secretary of State for the Home Department in judicial reviews. Early career roles include providing legal advice to the Government of Timor-Leste and serving as a Research Assistant/Associate to The Hon. Chief Justice Higgins at the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory. Carla holds a Master of Laws in International Law, a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, and multiple degrees from the University of Canberra, including a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies.
