Tok Thompson is a distinguished academic affiliated with the University of Southern California since August 2005, serving as a Professor in Teaching and previously as an Assistant Professor. In addition to this role, Tok Thompson has been the Editor of the book series World Mythology in Theory and Everyday Life at Oxford University Press since January 2019. Between 2014 and August 2021, Tok Thompson held the position of Editor for Western Folklore: The Journal of the Western Folklore Society and served as Co-editor for Cultural Analysis from 2000 to 2015. Earlier in the career, Tok Thompson was the Head Archivist for the University of California Folklore Archives from August 1998 to June 2000, following education at the University of California, Berkeley.
