Sebastien Martin

Sebastien Martin has a diverse work experience, starting with their current role as a Staff Software Engineer at Pachama since November 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Shopify for nearly eight years, taking on various roles. From February 2021 to June 2022, they served as a Staff Engineer, Data Platform, where they provided technical and people leadership to drive the team and product towards a new vision aligned with Shopify's growth. Before that, from June 2017 to February 2021, they worked as a Senior Data Engineer, focusing on Shopify's largest and most complex data pipeline. Additionally, from April 2014 to June 2017, Sebastien was a Senior Mobile Developer, contributing to flagship mobile apps, prototyping new app concepts, and working on native iOS development.

Prior to their time at Shopify, Sebastien worked at Macadamian Technologies as a Software Architect from May 2009 to April 2014, and as a Software Developer from May 2007 to May 2009. Sebastien also gained experience at the Department of National Defence, where they held the position of Developer & IM Analyst from July 2003 to May 2007, working on various projects related to web-based management systems and data mining services for the internal audit branch.

Sebastien's career began at 50 Carleton & Associates as a Web Developer from June 1997 to August 2002, where they worked on commercial websites and computer-based training modules during the early days of the web.

Sebastien Martin completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science from the University of Ottawa, starting in the year 2000 and finishing in 2004.
