Phumlani Dyini has a strong background in risk management and compliance. Phumlani started their career in 2004 at Old Mutual South Africa, where they worked as an Internal Auditor before moving on to roles as a Risk Manager and eventually a Senior Risk Manager in Product Solutions. In 2010, they joined Metropolitan as the Head of Risk Management for their Africa Business division. From 2012 to 2020, Dyini worked at Woolworths Holdings Limited as the WHL Group Head of Enterprise Risk Management and Regulatory Compliance. In 2021, they joined Pepkor Holdings Limited as the Group Head of Risk/Chief Risk Officer.
Phumlani Dyini pursued their education in a chronological manner, starting with their matriculation from Selborne College in 1999. Phumlani then moved on to Cape Peninsula University of Technology, where they studied Internal Auditing from 2001 to 2003, focusing on financial accounting and management accounting. In 2007 and 2008, they attended the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika, where they obtained a degree in Risk Management, specializing in financial risk, insurance risk, operational risk, and quantitative analysis.
Continuing their educational journey, Dyini enrolled at the University of the Western Cape from 2011 to 2013, completing an ADM degree with a strong emphasis on financial management and investments. Afterwards, from 2017 to 2018, they studied at MANCOSA and earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management in the fields of management, economics, operations, and business ethics.
Most recently, in 2019 and 2020, Dyini attended the University of Cape Town, where they obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in commercial law.
