Rose Rustowicz

Rose Rustowicz has extensive work experience in geospatial data science and remote sensing. Rose is currently employed at Perennial as a Senior Geospatial Data Scientist. Prior to this, they worked at Descartes Labs as an Applied Scientist III, Sustainability, where they led the development of deforestation detection products and deep learning-based coffee classification solutions. Rose also served as a primary technical point of contact for external users and conducted workshops on sustainable agriculture. Before Descartes Labs, Rose worked as an Applied Scientist in Agriculture and contributed to various remote sensing and modeling projects.

In terms of education, Rose had research and internship positions at Stanford University, where they explored image quality and depth estimation in small baseline dual cameras and worked in the Sustainability and Artificial Intelligence Lab. Rose also worked as an Intern at Planet, where they conducted research on synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and deep learning models for satellite imagery.

Rose began their career as a Computer Scientist at the Air Force Research Laboratory, where they used convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for object detection and classification in aerial imagery. Rose was recognized as the Category I Civilian of the Quarter across all of AFRL.
