Rexford Newbould

Chief Operating Officer at Perspectum

Rex Newbould is Chief Operating Officer and thus heads Perspectum’s technical development and operational delivery. This includes deployment and delivery of products to sites around the world, as well as the quality and continuity of data from these sites.

Rex has 20 years' experience of working in MRI and 15 in using imaging in clinical trials. He earned his BS, MS, and PhD in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Biomedical Engineering, and a postdoc in Radiology, before becoming scientific staff at the Stanford University Lucas Center for MR Spectroscopy and Imaging. He has published over 60 journal papers in clinical trials and MR physics and had two successful patents licensed.

After leaving academia he became Head of MRI Physics at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), designing imaging endpoints in clinical trials, followed by Head of MR Sciences at a specialist imaging CRO. In this role, he led the MR business unit directing the design, execution, and analysis of MR and simultaneous PETMR studies in a full GxP environment.
