Ni (Jenny) Zhang

Machine Learning Engineer in Computer Vision at Petuum

Ni (Jenny) Zhang has worked in the software engineering and machine learning fields since 2014. Ni (Jenny) earned their PhD in computational chemistry/cheminformatics from RPI in 2014, where they developed an innovative 3D Deep Convolutional Neural Network Encoder Decoder system and was proficient in model building and training with Python and Keras built on top of Tensorflow. In 2016, they completed their Master's of Computer Science with Heng Ji's NLP group, where they developed a distributed Twitter Service Using the Paxos/Wuu-Bernstein Algorithm with c++ and AWS, a content-based candidate recommendation system with TFIDF, LDA, and LSI on talent profile json data, a four-pathway Mobile Eye Gaze Estimation with Deep Learning model using Tensorflow, and a Twitter Sentiment Analysis with LSTM Recurrent Neural Networks. Ni (Jenny) also worked as a summer intern at Boehringer Ingelheim in 2016, where they developed automated Python tools for confidence measurement and applicability domain assessment of models using Python and unix shell scripts, and simulated the real-life performance of the models on a huge database of endpoints of human Plasma protein binding (hPPB) and volume of distribution (VDss). In 2019, they became a Machine Learning Engineer in Computer Vision at Petuum, Inc. and in 2021 they began working as a Senior Software Engineer at LinkedIn in ML infra.

Ni (Jenny) Zhang attended Shandong University from 2010 to 2014, where they earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Chemistry. Ni (Jenny) then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Subsequently, Ni (Jenny) Zhang returned to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry in 2018.
