Mark Urban

Mark Urban is an experienced scientist specializing in neuropharmacology and analgesic discovery. Currently serving as Director at PsychoGenics since 2020, Mark supports the NIH Preclinical Screening Platform for Pain initiative focused on non-opioid analgesics. Previous roles include Independent Consultant with expertise in sensory disorders, Sr. Scientist at Teva Pharmaceuticals where Mark led an analgesic discovery program for migraine pain, and various positions at Merck, including Team Lead for the Neurophysiology and Pain Team with significant contributions to preclinical in vivo studies and novel pain models. Mark began a career as an Assistant Research Scientist at the University of Iowa and holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Iowa, along with a B.S. in Biochemistry from Grove City College.
