Katie Hughes

Katie Hughes is a Software Robotics Development Engineer at RAI Institute since January 2024, focusing on supporting the AI Institute's Spot and ROS 2 stack while collaborating with research teams. Previously, Katie was a Software Robotics Intern at Boston Dynamics, where new behaviors for the Stretch warehouse robot were developed. As a Research Technologist at CERN, expertise was demonstrated in the charge injection system for the ATLAS Tile Calorimeter, facilitating critical upgrades and maintenance. Additional experience includes internships at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Caltech, as well as a role as a Circulation Assistant at The Joe and Rika Mansueto Library, and tutoring for a 6th grade science class. Education includes a Master’s degree in Robotics from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Arts in Physics from the University of Chicago.
