Carl Schaefer serves as the Director of Programs at RapidFlight, LLC since August 2022 and has been an Adjunct Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at George Mason University since September 1999, where recognition includes the 2015 GMU Adjunct Faculty Service Award. Previously, Carl held the position of Program Director at Aurora Flight Sciences, overseeing critical programs such as the Boeing Future Long Range Assault Aircraft and the DARPA Hunter XLUUV projects. Additionally, Carl's experience spans senior roles at Aurora Flight Sciences Corporation, including leadership of the LightningStrike VTOL X-Plane Program, as well as positions at Leonardo DRS, FutureLink, Inc., Naval Air Systems Command, and the Naval Air Test Center. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace and Ocean Engineering from Virginia Tech, a Master of Engineering in Systems Engineering, and candidacy for a Ph.D. in Information Technology and Engineering from George Mason University.
