Fred Waithaka is a seasoned legal and regulatory professional with extensive experience in the telecommunications and legal sectors. Currently serving as the Head of Regulatory and Public Policy and the Head of Legal and Secretarial Services at Safaricom PLC since June 2017, Fred has previously held leadership positions as Head of Legal and Regional Counsel at SEACOM LTD from April 2012 to May 2017, and as Principal In-house Counsel at Safaricom Limited from January 2006 to April 2012. Fred's legal career began at Kaplan & Stratton Advocates, where responsibilities included roles as an Associate and Pupil/Trainee from September 2000 to December 2005. Fred is an alumnus of the University of Bedfordshire, earning an LLB (Hons) in Law from 1997 to 2000, and is furthering legal expertise at the Kenya School of Law since 2001.
