Susan Howan

Susan Howan currently serves as Education Officer at The Salvation Army and Dean of Studies at the School for Bible and Mission since January 2023. Previously, Howan held various significant leadership roles within the Ministry of Education of New Zealand, including Associate Deputy Secretary for Strategy and Implementation and Programme Director for the Vulnerable Children Act 2014. Earlier career milestones include serving as Deputy National Children's Director at the Ministry of Social Development and Specialist Advisor in Service Transformation at the New Zealand Ministry of Justice. Howan's extensive experience spans over three decades in policy management, strategic implementation, and service design in multiple government sectors, supported by a Master’s Degree in English Literature from Victoria University of Wellington.
