Roland Agar has a diverse work experience that spans over several organizations. Roland started their career at Deloitte and Touche, where they worked as a Vac Student, Articled Clerk, Senior, and Supervisor. During their time there, they learned the fundamentals of the auditing process and developed a strong work ethic. After that, they moved on to work at Smithkline Beecham U.K. as an Accountant, where they were responsible for reconciling and reporting on accounts with global offices. Later, they joined Sappi Limited, where they held various roles such as Senior Internal Auditor, Regional Audit Manager - Europe, and Head of Internal Audit. In these positions, they were responsible for planning and performing financial and operational audits, as well as managing audit matters in Europe. Throughout their career, they gained extensive experience in finance, auditing, and strategic management.

Roland Agar attended King Edward VII School (KES) from 1978 to 1982, where they obtained their Matric (Academic Colours) degree, with a focus on History, Maths, Science, English, Latin, and Afrikaans. Roland then pursued further education at the University of the Witwatersrand from 1983 to 1987, earning a BCom and BAcc degree. Their main fields of study included Accounting, Auditing, Clinical Psychology, and Commercial Law. Additionally, they obtained a certification as a CA (SA) from SAICA CA (SA).
