Eugene "Mitch" Mitchell has held various leadership positions in the energy industry. Eugene “Mitch” began their career at the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, where they served as the VP of Public Policy from 1999 to 2005. In 2005, they joined Sempra Energy as the Regional Vice President of External Affairs, overseeing strategic direction and leadership for the company's California regulated utilities. Eugene “Mitch” was then promoted to Vice President of State Government Affairs and Officer of the Company, managing a team of professionals and an operating budget of $1M annually from 2011 to 2015. After that, Mitchell became the VP of External and Legislative Affairs for SDG&E and SoCalGas, leading 61 professionals and managing a combined operating budget of $10M until 2021. From 2021 to 2023, they served as the Senior Vice President of Diversity and Community Partnerships at Sempra, responsible for integrating diversity and inclusion into the company's business strategy and supporting community initiatives. Currently, Mitchell holds the role of Senior Vice President and Chief Legislative Officer at SDG&E and SoCalGas, overseeing legislative matters for the company.
