Peter MacKinnon, MSW, currently serves as the Acting Director of the Public Division at SEIU and previously held the role of Assistant Director for Local Strength in the same division. With extensive experience in child protective services, Peter served as Social Work Supervisor at the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, supervising child abuse investigations and managing multiple social work units. Before this, Peter was the President and Executive Director of SEIU Local 509, where leadership in the Massachusetts Union for Human Service Workers and Educators was provided. Peter's earlier roles include serving as Assistant Program Supervisor at The Key Program, Inc., and as a Child Protective Social Worker with the DSS, in addition to participating in Americorps. Peter holds a Master of Social Work from Salem State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
