Early in their career, Mahmood worked as a Procurement Executive at British Airways, where they achieved significant cost savings and reduced the Total Cost of Ownership for Intel servers. Mahmood also gained experience in the manufacturing industry at BMW Group, where they held various positions managing after-sales accounts, just-in-time supply, and supply of steel coils.
Mahmood Shah attended The Manchester Metropolitan University from 1994 to 1997, where they studied Business Mathematics. In 1997, they also participated in a one-year program on Supply Chain Management at Cranfield School of Management.
