Gordon Young

Gordon Young is an accomplished academic and professional in the field of design, currently serving as Deputy Director at the Sheffield Creative Industries Institute and Deputy Head of the Art & Design Department at Sheffield Hallam University since January 1998. Additional roles include Subject Group Leader for Postgraduate and Foundation programs and Regional and Global Engagement Lead for Art & Design. Young has also contributed as Principal Lecturer and Head of Undergraduate Recruitment for Art, Design, Media & Communications. In addition to these responsibilities, Young has held positions as an External Examiner at Nottingham Trent University, Southampton Solent University, and Teesside University from 2012 to 2024. Young began a career in design at BGC Consultancy Ltd from 1994 to 1998 and holds a Master of Arts in Industrial and Product Design and a BA (Hons) in Design with Applied Technology, both from Sheffield Hallam University.
