Michiel Baltussen

Michiel Baltussen is an accomplished professional in the field of mechanical engineering with extensive experience in research and development. Currently serving as the R&D Group Manager for Materials & Light Sources at Signify since September 2023, Michiel previously held the position of Domain Expert in Materials & Processing at Lightyear from July 2021 to August 2023, where responsibilities included shaping the materials domain and supporting engineering teams. Prior to that, Michiel spent nearly a decade at DSM in various leadership and scientific roles, including Group Lead and Global CAE Manager, focusing on competencies and collaboration across global teams. Michiel's academic background includes a PhD and MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology, along with a brief educational experience at The University of Tokyo. Early career roles included positions as a sheet metal worker and ICT helpdesk employee.
