Bac Nguyen Cong

Bac Nguyen Cong is an experienced AI research professional currently serving as an AI Research Scientist at SonyAI since April 2024. Prior to this role, Bac held the position of AI Senior Engineer at Sony from October 2019 to March 2024 and briefly worked as a Visiting Research Scientist at Mila - Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute in August 2023. Bac's academic background includes a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science from Ghent University, completed in 2019, as well as a Master’s Degree and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Universidad Central "Marta Abreu"​ de Las Villas, earned in 2015 and 2014, respectively. Professional experience also includes a role as a postdoctoral researcher at Ghent University from November 2015 to October 2019 and a summer internship at radix.ai in 2018, focusing on machine learning algorithms and their preprocessing requirements. Additionally, Bac conducted research at the University of Valencia as part of the Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision Lab in early 2018.
