Gary Werkman

Gary Werkman currently serves as the AVP and Chief Tax Officer at The Standard, a position held since September 2022. Prior to this role, Gary Werkman was the Senior Director of Tax at Transamerica Life Insurance Company for 22 years, from September 2000 to September 2022. Earlier in Gary Werkman's career, tax experience was gained as a Tax Manager at RSM McGladrey, Inc. between 1996 and 2000. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University, earned from 2002 to 2009, and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from the University of Northern Iowa, completed between 1988 and 1990.
