Kelly Smith

Kelly Smith is an experienced news professional with a career spanning over 15 years in journalism. Currently serving as a News Editor at The Minnesota Star Tribune since August 2010, Kelly supervises a team covering key regional topics such as social services, transportation, and higher education. Previous roles include reporter positions at The Forum and St. Cloud Times, where notable achievements included being named New Journalist of the Year by the Minnesota Newspaper Association. Additionally, Kelly has served as an adviser for the student newspaper at the College of St. Benedict/St. John's University and was a board member for the Minnesota Society of Professional Journalists. Kelly holds a B.A. in English and communications from the College of Saint Benedict.
