Barbara Slavin

Distinguished Fellow at The Stimson Center

Barbara Slavin is a distinguished fellow at The Stimson Center, a position held since February 2023. An independent journalist since January 2010, Barbara Slavin contributes to various news outlets, including Foreignpolicy.com, Al-Jazeera, and Voice of America, with a focus on Iran, Arab political developments, the Arab-Israeli dispute, and nuclear proliferation. From January 2012 to February 2023, Barbara Slavin served as the Washington Correspondent for Al-Monitor, and as a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council of the United States, coordinated an influential Iran task force. Additionally, Barbara Slavin was a board member of the International Student House of Washington, DC, from September 2011 to February 2023, and previously worked as assistant managing editor for world and national security at The Washington Times, a Jennings Randolph Fellow at the U.S. Institute of Peace, a senior diplomatic reporter for USA Today, and a special correspondent for The Economist, among other roles. Barbara Slavin holds a BA in Russian from Harvard University.
