Visiting Assistant Professor Of Astronomy at Swarthmore College

Jesus (Jesse) Rivera, PhD, currently serves as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Astronomy at Swarthmore College, where responsibilities include teaching astronomy and physics while conducting research on high-redshift dusty star-forming galaxies to enhance understanding of galactic formation and evolution. Prior to this, Jesus Rivera completed a Ph.D. in Astrophysics at Rutgers University–New Brunswick, focusing on the role of Dusty Star-Forming Galaxies in the cosmic formation rate of the Universe. Earlier research experience includes work as a researcher at the University of Texas at Brownsville, where involvement in Pulsar Astronomy and the Low Frequency All Sky Monitor (LoFASM) project occurred, as well as participation in a summer research program at The University of Oklahoma-Norman, focusing on laser cooling of ultra-cold Rubidium atoms. Jesus Rivera earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Texas at Brownsville.
