Gabe Shaughnessy

Gabe Shaughnessy is a Principal Data Scientist with extensive experience in data analysis, machine learning, and theoretical particle physics. Currently serving at Syrup Tech since March 2024 and previously at Jungle Scout, Gabe developed a web application for optimizing NCAA tournament brackets, utilizing advanced techniques such as supervised learning and Monte Carlo simulations. Gabe's background includes research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as an Associate Scientist and postdoctoral researcher, focusing on medical physics and theoretical particle physics, including work on the Higgs boson and dark matter. Educational credentials include a PhD in Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an MS from Cornell University, and a BS from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
