Guidewire Architect

The Opportunity

Working within Australia and New Zealand with a large Guidewire Partner that has a team of some 100 consultants in Australia and New Zealand, with access to an Indian based Guidewire Centre of excellence.  You will be working on large scale and medium sized Guidewire and systems integrations projects.  You will be responsible for defining the technical and architectural vision - designing, implementing, and managing the integration of various systems and applications. This role involves working closely with our clients to understand their business requirements and develop the architectural roadmap. You will play a critical role in ensuring that defined solutions are efficient, scalable, and aligned with business goals.

In this role you will:

  • Work with the client stakeholders to defined high level application and technical blueprint and requirements aligned to the key functional and business capabilities that need to be implemented.

  • Define which application components are required to implement each of the required functional and business capabilities, which component will be built vs. re-used vs. integrated with, and how.

  • Define how the components of all the applications relate to each other, and how they will support the capability or business area.

  • Understand the capabilities and limitations of the technical components and key domain applications.

  • Implement and manage the integration of various systems, applications, and data sources to ensure seamless communication and data flow.

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to design and development teams, ensuring best practices and standards are followed across development, runtime, and operations architecture.

Qualifications

Key Skills:

  • Strong understanding of the property and casualty insurance value chain.

  • Knowledge and experience of Guidewire including at least two of the following components: Policy centre, Billing centre and Claims centre.

  • Knowledge and experience of implementing Guidewire and knowledge of integrating into the wider insurance ecosystem architecture.

  • Knowledge of Guidewire integration gateway.

  • Knowledge of Guidewire SaaS Cloud Platform tenancy and networking.

  • Proven experience as Application and or Systems Architect or similar role, with a strong background in system integration and information system flows.

  • Ability to provide technical leadership to our teams and our clients.

  • Ability to collaborate with senior business SMEs and technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to design and develop cost effective solutions and evaluate and propose technical alternatives to resolve business and technology issues.

  • Ability to develop application and technical architecture as new requirements arise.

  • Ability to document and communicate the status of progress against plans at both project and programmes levels.

  • Knowledge of integration technologies, tools and architectural patterns including: REST,  APIs, microservices and event-driven architecture.

  • Knowledge of IT operating models, NFRs and DevOps.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to define complex multi-systems architectures and solutions.

  • Ability to support Program Management in planning including approach, risk analysis and high-level schedule for the technology changes.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of Australian and/or New Zealand Insurance market and regulatory requirements.
  • Modern full-stack engineering delivery experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of Scaled agile delivery.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud-native integration solutions.
  • Knowledge of data integration and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
  • Knowledge of security practices.
  • Knowledge of identity access management and role-based access controls.
  • Familiarity with creating SOWs.
  • Familiarity with Partner and Vendor Management.
