Shuvajit Basu

Shuvajit Basu is an experienced data science leader with a career spanning multiple industries and organizations. Currently serving as the Head of Applied Data Science and Analytics at Tesco since June 2025, Shuvajit previously held the position of VP & Head of Data Science at Tata Digital, where responsibilities included driving machine learning and data science initiatives across e-commerce and financial services. Prior to this, significant roles at Target included Director of AI and Director of Data Science, where Shuvajit developed various predictive platforms and computer vision capabilities. Earlier experience includes leadership in customer intelligence at Hewlett Packard Enterprise and risk strategy at GECIS Analytics. Educational qualifications include an MBA in Marketing from the Army Institute of Management and a B.Sc in Statistics from the University of Calcutta.
