Joey Carol is an undergraduate student at Haverford College since August 2021, actively engaging in leadership roles as a club leader and discussion group organizer for The Centre for Effective Altruism, focusing on preparing peers for impactful careers in addressing global issues. Previous experience includes an internship at Merck, where Joey contributed to the development of a subcutaneous drug formulation, and a research assistant role at the Focused Ultrasound Foundation, managing literature organization for a central database. Earlier employment as a store cashier at Harris Teeter provided foundational customer service skills. Education includes attending Woodlawn School for a high school diploma and previous enrollments at Stanford Online High School, Cannon School, and The Nueva School.

The Centre for Effective Altruism (CEA) is a charity dedicated to building and nurturing this global community of people who are thinking carefully about the world’s biggest problems and taking impactful action to solve them. CEA is an Effective Ventures project. Effective Ventures Foundation USA Inc. (EV US) is a section 501(c)(3) organization in the USA (EIN 47-1988398). EV UK and EV US are separate charities that collaborate closely under the “Effective Ventures” name.
