Brian Stanley has an extensive and diverse work experience. Brian is currently serving as the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at the Energy Foundation since December 2019. Prior to that, they were the Chief Operating Officer of Hamilton Families, where they managed day-to-day operations and oversaw key operational functions. Brian also held the position of Executive Director at the Oakland Public Education Fund, where they led the organization and raised a substantial budget to support programs for Oakland public school students. Brian Stanley has also worked as the Director of Programs at the San Francisco Education Fund, where they provided senior leadership and oversaw various education programs. In addition, they have held roles at Saint Mary's College of California, including Director of Black Student Services, Interim Director of High Potential Program, and Residence Hall Director. Overall, Brian Stanley has a wealth of experience in nonprofit management, education, and leadership roles.
Brian Stanley received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Saint Mary's College of California in 1998. Brian went on to pursue further studies and earned an Ed.D. degree in Education from Mills College between 2000 and 2006.

In the U.S., the Public Engagement Program builds broad national and state support for strong climate and clean energy policy goals pursued by the Buildings, Transportation, Power, and Climate programs. For nearly 25 years we have supported grantees to help educate business and community leaders, policymakers, and the general public about the health and economic benefits of a clean energy economy. Grantees include policy leaders, business, health, labor, environmental, faith, and consumer groups, as well as military organizations, think tanks, and universities. A thriving clean energy industry will strengthen national security, offer workers good jobs in viable industries, and keep our air and water clean and healthy—for today’s children and future generations. The foundation’s headquarters are in San Francisco, CA, with satellite locations in Raleigh, NC, and Chicago, IL. Energy Foundation China offices are located in Beijing, China.
