Katie Downes

Katie Downes, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Researcher at The Francis Crick Institute since April 2023, with a focus on the mammalian secretory pathway and its implications in the biotechnology and biopharmaceutical industries. From September 2018 to September 2022, Katie served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at The University of Manchester while pursuing a PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology, co-supervised by Prof V. Prior experience includes an R&D placement at FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies, specializing in purification process development for biopharmaceuticals, and tutoring A-level and GCSE students in the sciences through various roles, including at MyTutor.co.uk and Durham University. Katie completed a Doctor of Philosophy at The University of Manchester and holds a degree in Biological Sciences with Industrial Placement from Durham University.
