Araiz Murad Dahir is currently serving as the Head of the Economics Department and Lecturer in Economics at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur since August 2022. Prior to this role, Araiz worked as a University Lecturer at Khawaja Fareed University of Engineering & Information Technology from September 2019 to September 2022 and gained experience as a Sponsorship Analyst Intern at SponsorUnited in early 2019. Araiz has a strong background in research, having been a Graduate Student Researcher at The Philipp University of Marburg, and a Research Volunteer at both Harvard Kennedy School and The London School of Economics and Political Science. Education credentials include a Master’s degree in Political Economy from The University of Texas at Dallas and The Philipp University of Marburg, along with a Bachelor's degree in Economics and another in Business/Commerce. Araiz also co-founded The Times Institute, a coaching center, and provided policy analysis as a Research Fellow at Pakistan's Ministry of Planning, Development & Reform.

Islamia University began as Jamia Abbasia, a religious University established in Bahawalpur in 1925, following the academic pursuits of Al-Azhar University in Egypt. In 1975, Jamia Abbasia was declared as a general University, and renamed as The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB). The University started at the Abbasia and Khawaja Fareed campuses with ten departments. Later, 1280 acres of land was allotted to the University on Hasilpur Road about eight kilometers away from the city center which became the Baghdad-ul-Jadeed campus. IUB added two more campuses in 2005: One covering eastern side of Bahawalpur Division (in Bahawalnagar; known as IUB - Bahawalnagar Campus) and the other one to cover western side of Bahawalpur Division (in Rahim Yar Khan; known as IUB - Rahim Yar Khan Campus).
