Axana Haggar has extensive experience in the field of microbiology and public health, currently serving as a Med Dr Utredare and PhD Programme officer at Socialstyrelsen since November 2010. In this role, Axana focuses on developing strategies and action plans to combat antibiotic resistance and manage communicable diseases in Sweden. Prior experience includes a position in microbiology at AstraZeneca in 2010, a post-doctoral position at Karolinska Institutet from 2007 to 2009, and serving as a university lecturer at Södertörns högskola from January 2006 to June 2008. Axana completed a PhD in microbiology at Karolinska Institutet between 2000 and 2005.
