Head Of Industrial Decarbonisation at The Scottish Government

Stuart Watson is an accomplished professional in architecture and policy development, currently serving as the Head of Industrial Decarbonisation at The Scottish Government since March 2009. In this role, Stuart leads initiatives to create competitive decarbonisation policies for Scottish industry and manages a £34m co-investment program aimed at technology deployment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Previous experience includes positions as Senior Architect at Bennetts Associates and Panter Hudspith Architects, where significant projects involved developments for the University of Edinburgh and retail spaces. Stuart has also contributed to academia as a visiting tutor at the University of Edinburgh, focusing on sustainability in design. Additional expertise includes private practice work on domestic projects and volunteer experience in health and education in rural Tanzania. Educational qualifications include a Dip Arch from Edinburgh College of Art and dual MEng degrees from the University of Leeds and Penn State University.
