Ashish Deshpande

Ashish Deshpande is a prominent figure in the field of rehabilitation robotics and prosthetics, currently serving as a Professor and directing the Rehabilitation and Neuromuscular (ReNeu) Robotics Lab at The University of Texas at Austin since July 2011. Deshpande has also taken on the role of Research Director at Meta since June 2023, focusing on wearable sensors and actuators for immersive experiences and addressing challenges in control algorithms. Previously, Deshpande co-founded Harmonic Bionics, Inc. in 2016 and held assistant professorships at the University of Maine, where research initiatives included bio-robotics and rehabilitation technologies. Educational credentials include postdoctoral work at the University of Washington and dual PhDs in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
