Guru Radhakrishnan, PhD

Guru Radhakrishnan, PhD has a wealth of experience in data science, NLP, and AI. Guru began their career in 2013 as a Data Scientist (PhD in Bioinformatics) at the John Innes Centre, where they employed large-scale data analyses to understand patterns of evolution in gene regulatory networks. Guru then progressed to a Senior Data Scientist (Postdoctoral Researcher), where they built an innovative data processing and classification pipeline that distinguishes between populations of microbes in real-time. In 2019, Guru took on a Data Consultant role at Scriptoria Sustainable Development Communications. In 2021, they joined Aviva as a Lead Data Scientist and acted as the technical authority and point-of-contact for Aviva UK's cloud machine learning infrastructure. Guru designed, built, and deployed 5 transformer-based NLP pipelines to understand customer pain points through automated categorisation of TNPS survey responses, complaints, and live chat transcripts. Guru also led a team of 5 developers to build and deploy an end-to-end NLP solution to analyse customer email text and assign emails to customer service agents. In 2022, Guru will join Theta Lake as a Senior NLP Engineer.

Guru Radhakrishnan earned a Bachelor of Technology in Biotechnology from the National Institute of Technology Durgapur from 2009 to 2013. Guru then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Bioinformatics and Biological Sciences from the University of East Anglia from 2013 to 2017. Additionally, Guru Radhakrishnan obtained a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management from ILM in January 2022 and the S2DS London 2019 certification from Pivigo in September 2019.
