Andrew Tulloch is a co-founder of Thinking Machines Lab since January 2025, bringing extensive experience in machine learning and statistics. Previously, Andrew served as a member of the technical staff at OpenAI from October 2023 to November 2024, focusing on ML systems and the pretraining of GPT-4o and GPT-4.5. Prior to that, Andrew held the position of distinguished engineer at Meta from April 2012 to September 2023, specializing in machine learning systems primarily using PyTorch. Andrew's earlier experience includes working as a strategist at Goldman Sachs from November 2010 to February 2012, where expertise in developing financial products and statistical arbitrage trading strategies was utilized. Andrew's educational background includes a Master's degree in Mathematical Statistics from the University of Cambridge, a Bachelor's degree in Advanced Mathematics from the University of Sydney, and ongoing doctoral studies in Statistics and Machine Learning at the University of California, Berkeley.
